Location: E. 6th Street, Austin, TX 78702 (exact address will be provided to students in the week before the class)

Start your upcycling journey here with Wear Trash! Bring a sewing machine and some fabric that you would like to upcycle (fabric will also be provided!), and get ready to learn the fundamentals of repurposing forgotten textiles.

This class will be one part educational, one part hands-on sewing:

Part one will cover:

  • Where to find quality, affordable, & unique textiles for upcycling

  • What fabrics work best for upcycling, & what fabrics to avoid

  • Helpful tools & supplies

  • A reference guide for ways to upcycle common household items

  • Many more tips & tricks of the trade

For part two, we’ll sew 2 upcycled projects:

  • A large bandana / Furoshiki wrap

  • A hair scrunchie

What to bring to class:

  1. Your sewing machine (make sure it works before arriving!). Beginners are encouraged to attend, just make sure you know how to thread your sewing machine and sew a basic, straight stitch.

  2. Optional: fabric that you would like to upcycle into a bandana or scrunchie (lots of fabric will also be provided for you to choose from!)

For any questions, you can email Heather@weartrash.net , or send a DM on instagram (@wear_trash).
